2005 Monthly Meeting at Jax

Sergio Sosa, the President, called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Past events: Adopt a Highway -- Sergio thanked everyone for helping at the Adopt a Highway day. There was a huge turnout and, as a result, it took less than an hour and one half to pick up all of the trash.
Current events:
AGM -- Sergio announced that the Board of Directors had met to discuss the AGM. The Board members would be responsible for the AGM, but would like to have a committee of volunteers to contact vendors to obtain door prizes. People who volunteer should contact their vendor(s) within the next two weeks. The AGM will be held on Friday, November 11, 2005 .
Bill Burke – Sergio stated that Bill Burke would be traveling through Texas in November, around the time of the AGM. Rob Sturgess had contacted the Board and requested an advanced trail leader class taught by Bill Burke when he was in Texas in November. The class would be limited to six people, hand picked by Bill Burke. Each person would be responsible for his/her own costs and must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
Steve McDonald asked the members of the club if they would be interested in this training class since we had already held two Bill Burke events in 2005. A vote was held among the members and it was unanimous that no one was interested in this class. A club sponsored Bill Burke advanced trail leader class would not be held in 2005. Steve and Sergio announced that any member could hire Bill Burke on their own if they wish.
Rally – Doug Aitken announced that he must have at least fifteen cars for the rally scheduled for October 17, 2005 . Very few people had signed up as of September 7, 2005. A discussion among the members was held, and it was decided, due to the high price of gasoline and the fact that a trail clearing in Columbus was scheduled for October 18, 2005, the rally would be canceled.
Other upcoming events – trail clearing in Gilmer – October 7 – 9, 2005; dealer event for the North Store at Columbus – October 2, 2005; two trail clearings in Columbus to prepare for the dealer event – September 18, 25, 2005; British Expo at Traders Village – October 15 – 16, 2005. Participants must register by October 1, 2005 ; and Range Rover Sport party – October 22, 2005 at the Land Rover North dealership.
